Low Self Esteem - Don't Tolerate It!

So many people go through life with low self esteem.  At any one time more than half of the population will claim to have low self esteem.  That is quite simply tragic.  Low self esteem is a curse which impacts on all areas of your life.  It creates stress and anxiety and prevents you from living a fulfilled and happy life.  Fulfilment and happiness is a right we all have.  It therefore stands to reason that low self esteem should not be tolerated.

The first question to ask is if you have low self esteem what have you done to improve it?  If you do nothing to increase low self esteem, it simply will not go away.  Low self esteem is not like a cold, here for a few days then gone.  Once it sets in it can be with you for life.  Your entire life.  Furthermore, the longer you suffer with it the more entrenched it gets and the more difficult it is to get rid of.

So consider what it is that you have done to try and get rid of it.  What have you done to increase your self esteem?  What have you done to warrant high self esteem?

If you are left puzzled by this, let me give you a nudge in the right direction.  High self esteem has to be earned.  You need to prove to yourself that you are worthy, and indeed very worthy!  To do this you have to start doing the things that make you feel better about yourself.  Have you helped anyone lately?  Could you phone a family member or friend that you last spoke to ages ago?  Could you do some volunteering in your local area?

High self esteem needs working on and those who have it, work on it.  Some may not realise what they are doing, or what the net effect is.  Low self esteem needs positive action to get rid of it.  It will not blow over, you have to push it out of the way.  You have to do something to make you feel better about yourself.  Having high self esteem takes work.  Think of it like working out at the gym.  The more you do it the more toned your muscles get.  Self esteem is the same.  It is like a muscle and needs flexing and stretching regularly.

Some people find this difficult to work through on their own.  A friend can often help, but failing that a few life coaching sessions can often help out.  Someone who knows nothing about you can give you a really good overview and help to point you in the right direction.
